Raha Janka, MSW, MPH, LGSW (she/her)
Raha Janka is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), with experience in substance use and recovery in both DC and Maryland. She holds a Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore and a Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology from George Washington University.
Raha's professional experience includes individual and group therapy, both for community health centers, including Whitman Walker, and private practice. Raha has experience working with clients suffering from anxiety, codependency, substance use, and trauma/PTSD, as well marginalized, BIPOC, and LGBT communities, providing trauma-informed and culturally affirming care.
Raha operates from a trauma-informed lens, understanding a client's life experiences to deliver effective care. She also works from a culturally informed and intersectional stance, often considering how systemic injustice and oppression interferes with mental health and well-being.
Raha's experience in the field of global health allowed her to live and work in many countries across East and Central Asia, and the Middle East. This has helped her create deeper relationships with clients and their intersectional identities, helping them live their most authentic lives.
